Andrea Thompson was a primetime anchor for CNN Headline News. Based in CNN’s world headquarters in Atlanta, Thompson was instrumental in the re-launch of the network and covered the events of September 11.
Before joining CNN, Thompson worked as a general assignment reporter for KRQE-TV, a CBS affiliate in Albuquerque, NM covering stories across the state and the four corners region. While there, Thompson covered numerous stories that were also in the national headlines, including the trial on charges of espionage of Wen Ho Lee, the destructive wildfires from Pecos, New Mexico and the arrest of the infamous “Texas 7” fugitives who were found in Colorado Springs, Colorado after breaking out of a Texas prison and killing a police officer. Thompson broke the international story of Ana Marie Regino, a 120 pound, 3 year old child who was removed from her parents custody by the state of New Mexico.
Previously, Thompson starred for 4 years on ABC’s award winning drama “NYPD Blue” as Det. Jill Kirkendall. She has extensive film and television credits to her name, including Talia Winters on “Babylon 5”.
Since leaving CNN, Thompson has hosted a three-hour block of original programming for Court TV, “The Saturday Night Solution”. Her duties for the cable network included outreach on behalf of Court TV’s child empowerment initiative, anti bias initiatives and recognition of women in law enforcement.
From 2004 to 2008, Thompson co-hosted OPEN HOUSE RADIO a two-hour drive-time talk show on KTLK in Los Angeles dealing with seasoned real estate investors and finance. Thompson is a principal in a new Las Vegas casino project, the Aquaterra Casino and Resort.
Thompson lives with her two sons in the Los Angeles area and is a native of Dayton, Ohio.
