Phoenix Comicon is looking for enthusiastic and responsible individuals to come on board as volunteer staff members. All positions are volunteer.  

Please scroll through for all open positions that we are currently interviewing for and seek to fill.  All departments (Operations, Programming, Marketing, Guest Relations, Technology) have open positions.

Marketing:

Street Team Members:

Visit local stores and organizations to drop off promotional materials and/or interact with the public at street team events to spread the word about the Comicon. We're especially interested if you love dressing and posing in costume, or if you live in hard-to-reach areas outside the Phoenix/Metro area. Email Bry.Squires@phoenixcomicon.comfor more details.

Large Corporation Liaison:

Comic Store/Vendor Liaison:

Contacts comic stores and vendors to find opportunities to promote Phoenix Comicon. Perfect for an individual with many comic store connections and relationships. Email Rasheda.Smith@phoenixcomicon.comfor more details.

Downtown Phoenix Liaison:

Contacts downtown Phoenix-area restaurants, stores and business to promote Phoenix Comicon. Perfect for an individual who already spends a large amount of time in downtown Phoenix and has connections with the businesses surrounding the Phoenix Convention Center. Small Business Liaison:

Contacts small and/or independent businesses to promote Phoenix Comicon. Perfect for an individual who has a passion for small business and who has connections and relationships with several Phoenix-area small businesses. Email Rasheda.Smith@phoenixcomicon.comfor more details.

Info Desk Coordinator:

Info desk coordinators are each in charge of an info desk and the event staff associated with it. They ensure phones and emails are answer and all attendees who request assistance are helped with accurate information. Gather materials for the desk before the convention and train staff members. Info Desk Event Staff:

Work shifts at an info desk during the convention to answer attendee questions with accurate information. Assist with answering phones and emails during and before the convention. Attend training sessions and meetings to be prepared for the event. Email Loraine.Farrow@phoenixcomicon.comfor more details.

Social Media Event Staff:

Will help in implementing the social media campaign through all social media websites by posting and creating a presence on all sites. This includes interacting with attendees before and during the event. Will need to release announcements and promotional events on a specific time schedule and timing will be important for promotional execution. Press Room Event Staff:

Reports to the press coordinator and other members of their team to organize the press room. This includes decorating and having the room ready for press to interview guests. Media Guest Liaison:

Works with the press and media rooms to set up interviews for our media guests. Email Tom.Kuipers@phoenixcomicon.comfor more details.

Guest Liaisons provide guest services to assigned guests.  Guest services provided include providing
lunch and water to guest, transporting guest to and from panels, watching guest
tables when guest is in panels and answer guest questions.


Photo Booth Coordinator

Photo Booth Coordinators assist with the running of the photo booth.
Coordinators will have a team of event staff to assist with these duties. Photo booth duties include coordinating
with photographer and line control staff to move attendees through the photo taking process in an effective
manner and coordinating with guest relations staff to have photo sessions begin and end on time.

Photo Booth Image Processing Specialist-

Image specialist are responsible for prepping the photographers taken for printing.
Duties include making a back up of images, renaming and adding watermark to image using Adobe Lightroom or other photo management software.
Experience with this type of program is a requirement.

Photo Booth Photographer

In this high pace environment the photographer is in charge of creating a professional image with in a limited amount of time. Working along with the Photo Booth Manager, Coordinator and other volunteers the photographer needs to work with an assistant to keep track of the customer’s order number and the image number taken to make sure the photo orders are kept in order and tracked. The main objective of this position is directing the subjects in a courteous fashion with an emphasis on customer service. This is a very high pace environment. The goal is to have the highest customer service experience possible and quality all in a short period of time.

 

Operations:

Exhibitor Hall Coordinator

Reports to Exhibitor Manager and supervises minimum of 6 Event Staff/Volunteers.  Schedules, assigns and supervises direct reports responsible for Vendor/Artist Table assignments, signs, vendor satisfaction and move in/move out. Monitors vendor compliance to and enforces PCC  rules and regulations.  Coordinates with CSI (third party supplier) to ensure vendor satisfaction.       

Logistics Coordinator

Reports to Director of Operations and supervises minimum of 6 Event Staff/Volunteers.  Schedules, assigns and supervises direct reports responsible for the procurement, storing, inventory, handling and delivering all materials required to perform PhxCC activities, including projectors, sound equipment and other PhxCC owned/purchased materials.

Volunteer Relations Coordinator

Reports to Director of Operations and supervises minimum of 6 Event Staff/Volunteers.  Schedules, assigns and supervises direct reports responsible for over site of volunteer inter activities including: communications, assignments, Q&A, Introduction to hiring manager/coordinators.

First Response Team Event Staff

Reports to First Response Team Coordinator.  Responsible for a safe and efficient environment for staff, attendees, guest  and vendors.  Duties may include: line control, peace bonding, event monitoring, patrolling, registration line management, VIP and Guest line management, Vendor monitoring and crowd control.

Registration Event Staff

Reports to Registration Coordinator.   Duties include coordinating activities with PCC Cashiers.  Ensuring front line has sufficient passes, badges, etc to fulfill their duties.  Resolve issues as they occur.             

Exhibitor Hall Event Staff

Reports to Exhibitor Coordinator.   Responsible for Vendor/Artist Table assignments, signs, vendor satisfaction and move in/move out. Monitors vendor compliance to and enforces PCC  rules and regulations.  Coordinates with CSI (third party supplier) to ensure vendor satisfaction.

Technology:

Onsite Technology Coordinator:

"Reports to Onsite Manager-on-duty. Coordinate a minimum of 6 volunteers to ensure that each designated area is accountable for technology support during the convention. Each coordinator is responsible for 1 area of the convention: Programming Floor 1, Programming Floor 2, Registration, Hyatt, Volunteer/First Response, and Floating (where needed). The Onsite Technology Coordinator are responsible for ensuring that the equipment in their area is where it is supposed to be. Must have a basic knowledge of:

* Networking

* PC and Mac laptops

* Video Projectors

* Basic AV 

* HDMI, DVI, AVI and component

Scheduled as an 8 hour shift"

 

Onsite Technology Volunteer

"Reports to Onsite Technology Coordinator. Assists presenters, panelists and guests with connecting and operating laptops and video projectors. Ensures that equipment does not leave assigned locations. Must have a basic knowledge of:

* Networking

* PC and Mac laptops

* Video Projectors

* Basic AV 

* HDMI, DVI, AVI and component

Scheduled as a 4 hour shift"

 

Developer

"Reports to the Coding Project Manager. Writes code and develops web-based applications based on the needs of the convention. Depending on expertise, must be proficient in:

* PHP

* jQuery

* ActionScript

* Adobe Flash

* Mobile OS and Web development

Works pre-convention for an amount of time determined by Coding Project Manager and Director of Technology"
