Phoenix Comicon is looking for enthusiastic and responsible individuals to come on board as volunteer staff members. All positions are volunteer.  If you are interested but unsure of where you fit, please come to our next all hands meeting on Saturday, May 10th at the Phoenix Convention Center West Building Rooms 105ABC and 106AB.  Volunteer Relations sponsors a new volunteer meet and greet and orientation that begins at 9:30 AM and the regular meeting kicks off at 10:00 AM.

Programming

Comic Book Programming Staff

Outdoor Activities Programming Staff

Volunteers are needed to help with programming, specifically in developing and running various outdoor activities from concept to completion. If you are big-picture-minded, a self-starter, have good interpersonal skills and an eye for detail, we're looking for you. Programming Logistics and Support Volunteers

As a member of the Logistics Team you will be involved in behind the scenes efforts to create and maintain successful programming of Phoenix Comicon.  Duties include assisting with data acquisition of panel event popularity and attendance and assiting in troubleshooting event logistics including, but not limited to, ticket sales, crowd management and supply distribution.  A modest commitment of 12 hours guarantees you free admittance to the full event.  Come see what makes Phoenix Comicon's programming so special and become a part of the action as you never imagined.  For those interested, please contact Justin Pottenger, Programming Logistics Manager at justin.pottenger@phoenixcomicon.com

Stage Host

Do you consider yourself a comedian, stage personality, or an improv genius? Ever wanted to entertain 4,000 people at once? Well Phoenix Comicon is looking for fun, engaging, charismatic, and geeky volunteers to be Stage Hosts for Phoenix Comicon 2014. Stage Hosts will be on stage before, and after some of our largest panels; interacting with guests & attendees while keeping the energy high! The Outreach Teams are interviewing for volunteers to fill positions in the areas of Distribution, Outreach and Street Team.  You may have the personality and talent to be part of these outgoing and dynamic teams.  To be considered for these positions, please submit your resume' or requests for more detail to the contacts listed below.   

Relationship Team

Relationship Team Members

Responsible, under the direction of the Relationship Manager and Coordinator to establish and maintain relationships. This includes working with Charities, Schools and Businesses to negotiate beneficial arrangements for both parties. These team members reach out to outside organizations to coordinate partnerships, sponsorships and advertising. If you have time now to dedicate and want to enjoy Phoenix Comicon during the event, this may be a great fit for you.

Info Desk Event Staff

The Information Desk works directly with attendees of Phoenix Comicon answering questions about programming and providing assistance in navigating the downtown area. The Information Desk is open before the Con starts and often is staffed after the main Con floor closes. We have a variety of sites this year and you may NOT be in the main building. Volunteers need to be able to handle pressure and be open-minded. Professionalism is a must as you are dealing with a variety of beliefs, ages, genders. All volunteers will attend monthly training sessions and meetings to be prepared for the event. We are looking for team players that like to work with people. Knowledge of genres is a plus.

Customer Service experience preferred but not required.

Press/Media Badge Liaison

Reports to the Press and Media Coordinator. Responsible for approving Press/Media credentials and helping to distribute press materials as needed.

Operations

Artist Alley Coordinator

Reports to the Exhibitor Manager and supervises a minimum of 6 Exhibitor Hall Event Staff Volunteers. Will also work in conjunction with an additional Artist Alley Coordinator. Together, both Artist Alley Coordinators will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to our Artist Alley Table occupants, answering and addressing (in a timely manner) any questions, comments and concerns via a specific Artist Alley email account, in which both coordinators will share access to and check jointly.

On site, during the convention, the two Artist Alley Coordinators and their minimum of twelve Event Staff will be expected to split the Artist Alley Table occupants in half and check-in with them periodically, making sure that their needs are being met and that they are having an excellent experience. The Artist Alley Coordinators and their Event Staff will also assist with the move-in/move-out process and making sure that all artists are being compliant with both Phoenix Comicon and Phoenix Convention Center policies and procedures. Requirements: excellent organizational skills, prior customer service experience and excellent email etiquette (situational based writing sample), interview with both Roger Dickinson, Director of Operations and Erin Cooper, Exhibitor Manager.

Costume/Large Group Coordinator

The Costume/Large Group Coordinator will report to and work closely with the Exhibitor Manager, and be the main point of contact for all organizations and large groups that occupy large bulk space in the Exhibitor Hall. The Costume/Large Group Coordinator will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to our large groups, answering and addressing (in a timely manner) any questions, comments and concerns via email. Collecting and maintaining a running list of electrical and decorator needs for all groups to provide to the Exhibitor Manager.

On site, the Costume/Large Group Coordinator will be responsible for collecting Large Group Volunteer Agreements and assisting the large groups during check-in. The Costume/Large Group Coordinator and 6 Exhibitor Event Hall Staff will also be responsible for checking-in periodically with the large groups, making sure their needs are met and that the group’s bulk space is occupied at all times by members of the group. Requirements: excellent organizational skills, prior customer service, interview with Roger Dickinson, Director of Operations and Erin Cooper, Exhibitor Manager.

Volunteer Relations Event Staff

Reports to Volunteer Relations Coordinator.   Responsible for oversight of volunteer inter activities including: communications, assignments, Q&A, introduction to hiring manager/coordinators.

Line & Access Control Event Staff

Reports to Line & Access Control Coordinator.   Responsible for a safe and efficient environment for staff, attendees, guest and vendors.  Duties may include: line control, event monitoring, patrolling, registration line management, VIP and Guest line management, and crowd control.

Photo Booth Event Staff

Photo Booth event staff with be responsible to sell photo booth opportunities to attendees, answering attendee questions, putting photos out for attendee pick up. Staff will also assist with helping attendees through the photo taking process.
