Predator Themed Wedding
Saturday, 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Location: North 229ab

This year Phoenix Comicon will be hosting it’s first wedding. Kurt Colin and Caitlin Fluck will be tying the knot and exchanging trophies in a Predator themed wedding.

Kurt started out attending PCC as a vendor in 2008. In 2011 he moved on to costuming and in 2012 began presenting panels at PCC. Kurt is typically known as the “Big” Predator, but also appears as Mr. Freeze, a Colonial Marine and a Klingon. More personas get added every year. Be on the look out for Herman and Lily Munster wandering the hall this year.

Caitlin is relatively new to the costume scene, however she’s certainly jumped in with both feet and hit the ground running. Caitlin is known as the Blue Predator, Medieval Catwoman, a Colonial Marine, an Orion Slave Girl and Lily Munster.

Kurt and Cait met in 2012 and after a year of being together and working side by side, decided to take the plunge. Kurt had one idea, Cait had a better idea, so they will be joining as one at PCC on Saturday the 7th at 7pm in the fashion show room. Please feel free to join us on this special occasion and bear witness to a Predator wedding accompanied by a wedding party filled with Predator Groomsmen, Colonial Marine Bridesmaids and characters from the movies. This is a costumed event, costumes are not mandatory but are strongly recommended. Photographs and photographers are extremely welcome. The Bridal party will be posing for pictures after the ceremony.

We hope to see you all there as you join us for this joyous occasion

Sincerely,

Kurt Colin and Caitlin Fluck

Come learn the basics of 3D modeling and printing along with some methods of prep, painting, and assembly of printed props.

Printing 3D props and prop components lets you skip the difficult and time-consuming steps involved in cutting and shaping pieces from hand. Not that 3D printing is always superior to the traditional methods, but 3D printing lets you transition quickly from an idea, to a digital 3D version of your desired object, to a plastic version you can hold in your hand.

While covering basic modeling and printing techniques, we will go over many of the basic tools and supplies you’ll need before, during, and after your 3D printing adventure. We will also cover some techniques for prepping, painting, and assembling your 3D printed objects into finished props

Come and meet some WW2 historical re-enactors with thier uniformas and equipment and learn what goes in to having an authentic period costume!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSgFgxSds3g

Reenacting WWII has come a long way since its origins in 1975. Back then, it wasn't "cool" to cut your hair short or even to wear military uniforms. However, there were groups of guys who wanted to understand what it was actually like, to really be in WWII. They rejected the "Hogan's Heroes" view of the war -- instead, doing research, interviewing veteran's -- it was a hard row to hoe and there were many pitfalls and false starts.

Now, almost 30 years later, WWII is going well and strong, gaining momentum every event. Unlike Civil War or Rev War, WWII is not done for the crowds, so there isn't this "built-in" base of people who know about it, AND... we have to pay our own way, we don't get free food, ammo and t-shirts nor are we paid to come to events -- there is no large spectator base to pay for this. We have to pay our own way, but then again, we are free to do it OUR way!

If you grew up on shows like Combat or Rat Patrol, maybe this is for you. If you watched movies like A Bridge Too Far or The Longest Day or Where Eagles Dare, then perhaps WWII Reenacting is for you... If you liked Band of Brothers, The Pacific or Saving Private Ryan... well, you get it. WWII is something other time periods aren't and it's well worth checking it out.
